Every mobile device, be it a mobile phone, smartphone, or a PDA, runs on an operating system. This Operating System is also popularly known as Mobile OS or Mobile Platform. It is nothing but a program on top of which all other programs are run.
The mobile operating system controls every aspect of the mobile device – handling user input, displaying feedback on screen, managing memory, controlling application runs, and supporting multi-tasking and multi-threading. It enables the mobile device to interface with other devices like computers and printers. It may also allow thirdparty software applications to run on it.
The advancements in the mobile device hardware go hand in hand with the Mobile OS upgrades. Sometimes, just the mobile platform upgrades could bring new features and powers to the mobile device.
